Knighting ~ A Robin Hood Festival Tradition
Each year, several Sherwood area residents are chosen to be honored for their service to their community. Each person is "knighted" at the Robin Hood Festival by Maid Marian at the Friday evening Knighting Ceremony, and then is known by the title of "Sir" or "Lady".
The Robin Hood Festival Knighting Committee is seeking nominations for people to be honored at this year's Festival. We are looking for people who are long time volunteers in our community, outstanding citizens who go out of their way to help others, and neighbors who make our town and our world a better place. In the past, some of the knighted people have been very well known citizens of Sherwood, and others have been folks who quietly made a positive difference to their community. Over the past 3 decades, more than 400 people have been knighted. Knighting is an age-old tradition at the Festival. Over 400 people have been knighted in ceremonies spanning 3 decades. |
If you know of someone whom you would like to nominate, please send an email or letter with the following information: *Your name, email address and phone number. *The name of the person to be nominated with an email address, mailing address and/or phone number, *Information about the person's service to the community and why you feel this person should be selected. It is helpful to have this description be as full as possible so that the committee can get a sense of the extent of this person's service. Knighting nominations may be submitted by email or mail, and must be received by May 1, 2021. Our email address is RobinHoodFestival@gmail.com, and our mailing address is Sherwood Robin Hood Festival Association, P.O. Box 496, Sherwood, Oregon 97140. |
