Knighting ~ A Robin Hood Festival Tradition
Each year, several Sherwood citizens are chosen to be honored for their service to their community. Each person is "knighted" at the Robin Hood Festival by Maid Marian and then earns the title of "Sir" or "Lady".
The Robin Hood Festival Knighting Committee seeks nominations for people to be honored every year. They seek people who are long time volunteers in our community, outstanding citizens who go out of their way to help others and folks who make our town and our world a better place. In the past, some of the knighted people have been very well known citizens of Sherwood, others have been folks who quietly made a positive difference to their community. Knighting is an age-old tradition at the Festival. Over 400 people have been knighted in ceremonies spanning 3 decades. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in lieu of the time-honored Knighting Ceremony usually attended by many in July, we would like to hereby honor five people who were nominated this year as volunteers providing resources for their Sherwood neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. |
Hip Hip Huzzah for these wonderful citizens of Sherwood!!
